Während wir gestern alle fein die WM geschaut haben hat der Stoff für meine Übertunika im Topf gebadet. Auf ca 1200- 1300 g Stoff kam genau 1kg getrocknete, geschnittene Wallnussschalen.
Diese wurden über Nacht direkt im Topf eingeweicht, und am Tag danach wieder mit der Kelle aus dem Sud gefischt. Den Stoff habe ich dann gestern morgen ersteinmal in der Badewanne in kaltem Wasser vorgeweicht, damit er die Farbe später gleichmäßiger aufnimmt.
Weil die Wallnuss-Schalen natürliche Gerbstoffe enthalten, war es nicht nötig den Stoff vorher zu beizen.
Nachdem der Stoff im Topf gelandet ist, brachte ich das ganze unter regelmäßigem umrühren, und wenden der Stoff-Zuschnitte zum sieden, und hielt ihn für 1-2 Stunden auf Temperatur. Das ganze blieb so über Nacht im Topf und wurde dann heute Morgen gründlich ausgespült.
While we all watched the World cup yesterday, the cloth for my "Overdress" took a bath in my dyeing-pot. For about 1200-1300g of cloth I took 1kg dried, cut walnut-shells.
I soaked them overnight inside the pot, to fish them out the following day. In the Morning the cloth took a bath in cold water, to enable a consistent colouring.
Because the walnut-shells imply a natural tanning agent, it was not nessessary to mordant the cloth.
After it got to the dyeing-pot I heated the whole thing under constant agitation and held temperature for about 1-2 hours. The cloth stayed in the dyeing-pot overnight and was washed in the morning.
Soweit ich es bis jetzt beurteilen kann wurde die Färbung trotz des kleinen Topfes schön regelmäßig :-)
For all I can see until now, I thing the dyeing got very constant despite of the small pot :-)
